The Pilates Method
Pilates with Naomi feels it is important to take a wellness approuch to the Pilates method as to the fitness approuch that gym/healthclubs have. Most of my clients that visit the studio will come from healthcare practitioners such as Doctors, Physiotherapists, Osteopaths and Chiropractors. Whether the client is injured or just had a baby, or is in need of injury prevention exercises for those who play sport or who are very active. The instruction focuses on developing core stability and awakening, aligning and balancing the postural muscles and re-establishing the correct balance between different muscle groups, strengthening some muscles and releasing others.
Pilates is a complete exercise method developed by its founder Joseph Pilates over the course of a lifetime dedicated to improving physical and mental health.
Pilates is built around eight basic principles:
- Relaxation
- Concentration
- Co-ordination
- Centring
- Alignment
- Breathing
- Stamina
- Flowing Movements
The Pilates Method is a unique approach to exercise that develops body awareness, improving and changing the body's postural and alignment habits and increasing flexibility and ease of movement. Pilates dramatically transforms the way your body looks, feels and performs. With Weekly Pilates lessons you will gain a valuable insight into how your body works.
